Title: Color filter and method for manufacturing the same

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a color filter having a high resolution andexcellent controllability, in few steps without using a photolithographicprocess is disclosed. The method includes: preparing a substrate producedby sequentially forming a transparent electroconductive film and asemiconductor film on a transparent substrate; preparing a water-basedliquid in a vessel, the water based liquid containing a coloring materialand an electrodeposition material which is chemically dissolved orprecipitated/sedimented by changes in the pH; securing the substratehaving the transparent electroconductive film, to which means forsupplying a current or an electric field according to an image pattern isconnected, such that the semiconductor thin film is dipped in thewater-based liquid; disposing a counter electrode in the vessel anddisposing a mask pattern on the transparent substrate and applying lightto selectively precipitate an electrodeposition film, which includeselectrodeposition materials, on a portion at which electromotive force wasgenerated with light irradiation, thereby forming a monochromatic colorfilter. A plurality of coloring materials, which each have a differenthue, can be used and the steps for forming a monochromatic color filtercan be repeated for each material having a different hue to form apolychromatic color filter.
