Abstract: A radar system includes a transmitting/receiving unit, having a voltagecontrolled oscillator, for repeatedly transmitting a triangulartransmission signal including a frequency-gradually-rising up-modulationinterval and a frequency-gradually-dropping down-modulation interval andfor receiving a reception signal including a reflected signal from atarget, a frequency analysis unit, a data storing unit for storingtime-varying characteristics of input values to a D/A converter thatmonotonically change an oscillation frequency of the voltage controlledoscillator with time, in the form of data concerning an expressionrepresenting the time-varying characteristics, and a data processing unitfor determining the input values to the D/A converter with reference tothe data. At least one of the relative distance to the target and therelative speed of the target is detected based on a beat signal during theup-modulation interval and the beat signal during the down-modulationinterval.
